Stop Using Vaseline Immediately! 4 Reasons You Should Never Put Petroleum Jelly On Your Skin

Vaseline contains petroleum jelly which is also found in many beauty products that are supposed to moisturize your skin. This ingredient is not the best choice for your skin since it blocks your pores and as a result of that, it keeps the toxins in it. Moreover, it also prevents the skin from healing.

Problems with petroleum jelly

As we previously mentioned, petroleum jelly blocks the pores, but in this article we will present you some other ways in which the jelly harms your skin:

Collagen breakdown

Due to the fact that jelly forms a barrier on the skin, it can cause collagen breakdown as well. Applied on your skin prevents the skin from healing and using nutrients. Moreover, it also impairs the process of cell renewal and has the ability to suck out the moisture and nutrients from the skin.

Harmful carbs

Petroleum jelly stays as a protective layer until it’s removed on its own because our skin can’t metabolize it. Our body is just not able to use it like shea butter or coconut oil, and according to some scientists, carbs contains in the jelly can transform to fat tissue in the body.

According to a study, “There is strong evidence that mineral oil hydrocarbons are the greatest contaminant of the human body, amounting to approximately 1 g per person. Possible routes of contamination include air inhalation, food intake, and dermal absorption”.

Estrogen dominance

Petroleum jelly contains high levels of estrogen which can lead to estrogen dominance, thus causing nutrient deficiencies, allergies, autoimmune diseases, menstrual problems, fast aging and even infertility. Moreover, this jelly also contains xenoestrogens that can cause estrogen problems in the body by acting on hormone receptors.

Other problems

Products containing petroleum jelly have 1.4  dioxane which is considered as carcinogen. This means that petroleum jelly can cause numerous types of cancer, moreover, it can also cause lipid pneumonia. This is a rare condition which occurs due to inhaling small amount of petroleum jelly which furthermore accumulates in the lungs and may cause inflammation.
