Many people experience tartar buildup on their teeth but they feel embarrassed to talk about it.

- Skipping visits to the doctor – If you don’t visit a dentist you can’t remove all that plaque on your own. If you practice regular cleanings you will avoid buildup.
The proper oral hygiene is essential in the prevention of oral diseases. Plaque starts forming on the teeth 4-12 hours after brushing so it is important to brush them twice a day.
By regular brushing and flossing you will reduce the buildup of plaque and tartar as well as many other oral issues such as cavities, bad breath or gum disease.
Home Remedies that Prevent Tartar Buildup
1.Apple Cider Vinegar
Dip your toothbrush in apple cider vinegar and then brush and rinse your teeth afterward. Practice using this remedy for less than 2 times a week and do not leave the vinegar on your teeth for too long.
Strawberries and tomatoes can help you remove tartar if you rub them on your teeth. Leave the juice for five minutes on your teeth in order to soften the buildup and then rinse them with warm water and baking soda. This will provide a white and shiny smile. You can also use berries, oranges, lemons or red bell peppers.
A combination of baking soda and a pinch of salt can replace your regular toothpaste and will help you remove tartar buildup.
Also, you can make a mouthwash out of:
- Half a cup of water
- Two tsps. of baking soda
- Two drops of tea tree essential oil
- Two drops of peppermint essential oil
Combine these ingredients in a glass jar and use it 1-2 times a day. The anti-bacterial properties of the essential oils will prevent buildup of tartar and will provide a fresh breath.
